Multimedia help

In order to view NPC videos, you will need the RealOne Player program installed on your computer and a sound card with speakers or headphones connected to it. Your browser has to be configured to work with RealOne Player (this usually happens automatically when you install RealOne Player).

Audio clips can be played with a variety of players, including Windows Media Player which comes pre-installed on Windows PCs.

When you click on a video or audio link, it should start playing automatically. It sometimes comes up as a minimized screen and takes 10-20 seconds to start playing. If you already have RealOne Player, and it doesn't start playing the video, it may not be working correctly.

You only require the free version of RealOne Player. You don't have to provide a credit card number or purchase anything. There is a small link for the free version of RealOne Player on the download page labeled "RealPlayer Basic is our free player".

Frequently asked questions

No audio?

Please confirm the computer's internal volume is on and speakers are plugged in.

Real Player reports "net congestion"?

Net congestion means there are high traffic loads on the data lines or server. You may wish to try to view the presentation at a later time. If you are using a modem to connect to the internet, you will probably not be able to view our video clips in realtime.

Real Player reports that it is "buffering"?

Buffering is a normal process of live streaming. It is also a good thing. What is happening is the video server is sending the stream to the player which in turn stores (buffers) the data for several seconds. This way, if net congestion occurs, the stream will continue playing from the downloaded buffer. This gives the video server and player time to reconnect with one another and start to re-send the data which was lost without interrupting the media playback.
